    Program History:

The Arlington Girls Lacrosse Program started as an after school intramural club in the 2005- 2006 school year.  Organized by Arlington teacher Maeghan Deasy the club met once a week to play.  With the full support of Arlington Athletic Director Dave Goddard, the girls lacrosse program went varsity in the spring of 2007.  JV was created that same spring.  In 2008 the varsity secured their first winning record and their first trip to sectionals.  In 2009 under the leadership of Maeghan Deasy the program began its work with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.  Jaclyn Murphy was a freshman at Arlington at the time and just beginning her high school lacrosse career.  Jaclyn's amazing story can be seen here:  http://friendsofjaclyn.org/jaclyns-story/ .  Head coach and program founder Maeghan (Deasy) Schmitt stepped down after the 2011 season with a career record of 33-45-3.  Varsity assistant coach Dan Schmitt took over head coaching duties for the varsity program in 2012. Arlington would eventually become the 385th team nationally to adopt a child with a pediatric brain tumor in 2013.  The program adopted Angelo Mastandrea, a local child whose parents both graduated from Arlington.  On the field the Admirals have steadily improved over the years. The team won their first league championship in 2014 and thier first sectional game in the openning round that same spring.  The program has made multiple trips to the Sectional Quarterfinals since 2012 including 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.  In 2014, the Arlington Girls Lacrosse program won the Section 1 and NYSPHSAA Community Challenge Award for their commitment to Angelo Mastandrea and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.  In 2015 the varsity won their second consecutive league championship.  In 2017 FOJ founder and Arlington high school alumn Jaclyn Murphy became the Arlington Lacrosse JV head coach!  Following the 2017 season varsity assistant coach Jesse Hushion moved back to Maryland with her family.  Coach Dan Schmitt stepped down as the head coach in September of 2017 to coach his daughters in youth lacrosse.  Schmitt finished with a career record of 66-38-1.  His teams won league titles in 2014 and 2015, won the programs first sectional games and appeared in the sectional quarterfinals in 5 of his 6 seasons.  Athletic Director Mike Cring then hired Alrington High School and Girls Lacrosse Alumni Danielle Axelrod and Elizabeth Latuso to be the varsity head coach and assitant coach respectiviely.  The new coaches are excited to take the reigns and help lead the team that they both played for.
