Ms. Asendorf

I am a Visual Arts certified teacher working at  Arlington High School. I have taught in the area of  Visual Arts for a number of years and have experience teaching at all levels from elementary to adult. I am an Arlington graduate and am excited to be working in the district that inspired me to become both an artist and teacher. I love teaching art and opening the minds of my students to all of the possibilities art has to offer them. The skills that students learn in the arts are skills that can be carried over into any subject area. I enjoy painting and incorporate rich color and texture into my oil paintings.

Mr. Bayliss

At AHS since 2004, I’ve been teaching Studio in Art; Accelerated Art; Drawing and Painting; Portfolio; and AP Art History.

I received a BA in Political Science from Williams College and an MFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts. Before moving to this area in 2002, I lived several years as an artist in New York City.

Since 2010 I’ve been helping score the AP Art History examinations, and since 2015 I’ve been leading workshops on the course for College Board. For four years I was on the AP Art History Development Committee, which creates the exam and the curriculum and I now serve on the Arts Advisory Committee to the College Board. I also continue to make my own art  - mostly oil paintings – and show in galleries.

All things art-related are a joy to me, but nothing is better than seeing the happiness of students who make and understand such wonderful work.  In studio classes, I try to challenge students and show them how to succeed at whatever level they are at, and most of all I hope to develop their lifelong enthusiasm for visual learning and expression.
